Text Box: Scholarships are awarded annually. In the thirteen years from 1993 through 2007, the Memorial Fund has given 40 scholarships totaling $23,900 and supported ASWA membership development by sponsoring prospective member events. The voting members are the current directors of the Houston Chapter of ASWA. The Board of Trustees is selected by the voting members of the Memorial Fund except that one trustee must be the current president of the Houston Chapter. The officers are president, vice president, secretary and treasurer and are elected from the membership of the Board of Trustees at their annual meeting. Text Box: The Houston ASWA Memorial Fund was chartered in 1973 with the two-fold purpose of: Providing scholarships to deserving accounting students Furthering the mission of the American Society of Women Accountants — “To enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.” The Memorial Fund received contributions, in lieu of flowers, for members and their loved ones during times of grief. We receive contributions to celebrate special occasions and in honor of special people. Please consider the ASWA Memorial Fund as an opportunity to honor or to memorialize the people in your lives.
